Painting & decorating

Painting and decorating in Milton Keynes. We plaster it, then we paint it.

Most plasterers hand you a pink room and the number of a decorator. We finish the job: mist coat, walls, ceilings and woodwork, so there is one firm from bare plaster to the last coat.

We also take on painting by itself, whether or not we did the plastering.

Done properly

Most of a good paint job happens before the tin is opened

A bad paint job is almost always a prep problem. Paint over cracks and they show through; paint fresh plaster too soon and it peels. We do the slow part properly, so the finish lasts.

  • Filled, sanded and caulked first
  • Mist coat on all new plaster
  • Two full coats as standard
  • Cut in by hand, clean lines
  • All work guaranteed

01 / Painting new plaster

Painting new plaster

New plaster is where most paint jobs go wrong. Paint it before it has dried and it blisters; skip the mist coat and the emulsion peels off in sheets. We plastered it, so we know when it is ready and what it needs.

Once it has dried out we seal it with a mist coat, fill and sand anything that shows, then put on two full coats. You get a finished room back, not a pink one.

  • Plaster left to dry out properly
  • Mist coat to seal it
  • Hairline cracks filled and sanded
  • Two full finish coats
  • Walls and ceilings
  • One firm, plaster to paint

02 / Walls & ceilings

Walls & ceilings repainted

A good paint job is mostly prep. We fill the holes and cracks, sand them flat, caulk the gaps along the skirting and round the frames, and only then open a tin.

Then it is cut in by hand along the ceiling line and round the sockets, and rolled on in two coats so there are no patches showing when the light hits it.

  • Holes and cracks filled and sanded
  • Gaps caulked along skirting and frames
  • Cut in by hand, no taped wobbles
  • Two coats as standard
  • Hallways, stairs and landings
  • Floors and furniture covered

03 / Woodwork & doors

Woodwork, doors & skirting

Fresh walls make tired woodwork look worse. We key and sand the old finish, fill the dents and open joints, prime anything bare and put on an undercoat and top coat.

Skirting, architraves, doors and frames, window boards, banisters and spindles, and wall panelling. Gloss, satin or eggshell, whichever you want.

  • Sanded and keyed first
  • Dents and joints filled
  • Bare wood primed
  • Undercoat and top coat
  • Doors, frames and skirting
