Plastering

Plastering in Milton Keynes. Walls and ceilings, flat and smooth.

From one patched wall to a full house after a rewire. Here is each kind of plastering job we take on, and what is involved.

How we work

Your house is still your house while we are in it

Plastering is messy work. The difference is in what happens around it: floors sheeted, sockets and windows masked, and the room left tidy at the end of every day.

  • Floors and furniture sheeted
  • Sockets, switches and frames masked
  • Cleared up at the end of each day
  • Rubbish taken away with us
  • All work guaranteed

01 / Skimming

Skimming walls & ceilings

Most of what we do in Milton Keynes houses is a skim: a thin finish coat over existing plaster or fresh plasterboard. Done right it goes on flat, the corners are sharp and the ceiling has no ridges showing under a light.

We sheet the floors, mask the sockets and windows, and take the rubbish with us. Single rooms, whole floors, or a full house after a rewire.

  • Single walls to whole houses
  • Ceilings, including high and sloping
  • Skimming over new plasterboard
  • Angle beads on corners and reveals
  • Floors and furniture sheeted
  • Cleaned up every day

A bedroom with walls and ceiling newly skimmed, still drying pink, and a bay window onto the street
A lounge ceiling skimmed smooth, looking through a wide opening into the next room

02 / Artex ceilings

Artex & textured ceilings

Textured ceilings date a room more than anything else in it. In most cases we can bond and skim straight over the texture rather than scraping it off, which is quicker, cleaner and cheaper.

Where a ceiling is cracked, sagging or too heavy a texture to skim over, we board it first and skim the new board. We will tell you which one yours needs when we come to look.

  • Skimming over Artex
  • Overboarding uneven ceilings
  • Stipple and swirl finishes covered
  • Cracked ceilings made good
  • Coving removed or kept
  • Mist coat and painting if you want it

03 / Re-plastering & repairs

Re-plastering & repairs

Old plaster comes away from the wall: after a leak, a rewire, or just with age. We hack off what has gone, put a new backing coat on and finish it to match the walls around it.

Small jobs too. Filling chases after an electrician, patching round a new window, making good where a fireplace or a radiator came out.

  • Hacking off blown plaster
  • Backing coats and bonding
  • Patch repairs blended in
  • Making good after rewires
  • Cracks and holes filled
  • Window and door reveals

04 / Plasterboarding

Plasterboarding & dry lining

When a ceiling has had it or a wall is too far gone to patch, we board it. New plasterboard, screwed off properly, taped and skimmed.

Insulated board on a cold outside wall is worth asking about if a room never quite warms up. It takes a little off the room and makes a real difference to how it feels.

  • Ceilings taken down and reboarded
  • Walls dry lined
  • Insulated plasterboard
  • Moisture-resistant board in bathrooms
  • Boarding loft rooms and slopes
  • Taped, jointed and skimmed
